On Easter Sunday 1929, thirty one (31) new members were received into membership at St. John’s Church. An orchestra was formed and used during Sunday School services. The annual Father-Son Banquet was attended by over 70- members and the Mother-Daughter Banquet saw over 90 attendees. On Sunday morning, October 21, 1928, seventy (70) members of the Men’s Bible Class of Glen Rock Lutheran Sunday School from Glen Rock, PA attended worship at St. John’s Church. St. John’s Men’s Bible Class returned the visit to Glen Rock.
The cornerstone that we open today was laid on November 7, 1915. The new church building was finally finished August 7, 1916 and the Ladies Aid Society was given the go ahead to clean the inside of the church. Dedication of our church was held September 10, 1916. Total cost for lots, building and furnishings was about $7,000.00.
A congregational meeting held in May 1947 saw the name of Rev. Lloyd K. Haag presented to both St. John’s and St. Mark’s Emigsville congregations. Rev. Haag was installed as Pastor on July 1, 1947. On May 14, 1961, Barry Duncker and Donna Dennis were united in marriage at St. John’s Church.
