The year 1961 marked the 350th anniversary of the King James Version of the Bible. The English Revised Version, the American Standard Version and the Revised Standard Version were all attempting to bring the King James Version up to date. On March 14, 1961, the New English Bible was published by scholars of Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland. This version was to change the King James Version into English of the twentieth century.

November 2, 1939 minutes…..
The 25th Anniversary services were of historic interest to the community and the church at large. The first service was well attended and Dr. Kinsport gave a challenge to the young. Second night, Wednesday, not so well attended, but a good spirit prevailed. Third service well attended with Dr. Paul Y. Livingston as speaker. Fourth service evening well attended. Dr. Abarly had excellent sermon, assisted by Rev. Stauffer. September 30, 1942 minutes…..
Rededication of church with Dr. Krout as speaker. It was a memorable day with many Memorial Gifts presented – altar, linens, lights, flags, bible for lectern. On November 22, 1942, at the congregational meeting, Pastor Schwartz expressed the matter of placing a pipe organ in our church. A meeting followed and Church Council decided to purchase an old organ through Mr. Furst from Frank Remnant. Mr. Furst agreed to put same organ in first class condition at his price of $1,500.00, which included the purchase price of the organ. The blessing of the new organ was held on February 28, 1943 with Roger Schwartz at the console and Dr. Paul Kinsport as guest speaker.
September 3, 1954 the tabulation of bids for a new addition was as follows:
General Constructor (CM Gross) $37,395 Heating (Leon K. Poff) $3,470 Electric (ML Dietz) $1,675 Total $42,540 This was going on at the same time as a search for a new pastor and separating as a “stand alone” church. 1954 was a busy year. Marie K. Krueger was called to serve St. John as pastor for 15 years and one day from May 1995 to May 2010. During that time she was the first female chaplain to serve in the PA National Guard. She ministered to the Division Aviation Support Battalion at Indiantown Gap from March 2004 through March 2006.
On January 8, 1967, following worship, there was a coffee break. After a short devotional period conducted by Pastor Engelhardt, the meeting was given over to the representative of the Synod and a vote was taken. With a positive result, the Council was asked to extend a formal call to Bernard F. Engelhardt with the base salary of $5,500.00. His call began on February 9, 1967. He faithfully served St. John until his retirement on July 31, 1994.
The Reverend Robert H. Sternat was called to the congregation on November 22, 1954 and began his ministry with St. John on December 12 of that same year. He guided the congregation through two building projects and then submitted his resignation to be effective July 20, 1966. On his last Sunday, a farewell social was given to Pastor Sternat and his family. Deep regret was expressed by all present at their departure from the church and town. They were wished “Godspeed” and a gift of slightly over $100 was given to the pastor.
Later that month, Ted Furman was given permission to use the organ for practice and his parents were held responsible for his actions. In order to keep up with the times and for convenience, at the Annual Congregational Meeting held December 16, 1934, it was decided to use wafers in the communion service.
As our country was in a depression, Pastor Hassler asked Church Council and congregation for a voluntary reduction of 10% in his salary on May 1, 1933.
